John J. Piccitto has over three decades of experience in the financial services industry, 25 of them in the International marketplace.
Trained and educated in the United States, he has been based in the United Kingdom since 1981. In 1982 he developed for Merrill Lynch International the Equity Services group that grew into the international stock lending and borrowing desk now known as Equity Finance. Initially he set up the desk, hired staff, and installed procedures and control systems. He also traded on a daily basis. Later, he marketed the program to a worldwide client base and developed appropriate legal documentation and credit control/risk management standards for the operation. Before the 2001 market slump, gross profits on that desk exceeded $400,000,000.
In 2001, he established John Piccitto Consulting Ltd., supplying specialised skills to the extensive international client base he had developed over the previous two decades. Early projects included introducing companies to potential clients in the UK, Switzerland, Scandinavia, South Africa and the EU, and providing expert analysis on equity finance documentation, risk management and systems configurations for clients in South Africa. More recently, he has presented teaching modules on equity finance topics both to executive and to technical audiences, and consulted on marketing strategies, product structure and client base development with industry consultants, custodial banks and other agent/third party lenders.
Through his business activities, published articles and conference presentations, he enjoys an international reputation for his knowledge of the industry and his ability to explain ideas and procedures clearly and authoritatively.
He is a member of The Risk Management Association (RMA), and has been a member of the London Court of International Arbitration. During his early career as a Financial Consultant in the United States, he held both a New York Stock Exchange Series 7 registration as well as a registration with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). In the United Kingdom, he held SFA registrations as both a manager and as a registered representative.
